This is a lil'secret but (!) I have noticed with these rudder pedals from Thrustmaster that they don't seem to exactly center all of the time. All it takes to teach X-Plane how to interpret your joysticks signalthat is, to calibrate the joystick hardwareis to move all the axes of the joystick through their full range of motion while on the Axis tab of the Joystick & Equipment window. I'm a frequent FSX flyer and I never had any calibration issues. With this set, a C172's simulated yoke roughly matches the movements I make on the Honeycomb Alpha yoke. Cookie Notice The only way for X-Plane to know the range of a given joysticks input is for the user to teach it. Same as is stated in the ToLiSs manual. Normally the force feedback in real aircraft controls prevents excessive and unwanted control movement by the pilot. Pasted as rich text. Hi, is there any way that an onscreen joystick setting could be added rather that just a accelerometer control method? The only way within X-Plane to adjust the sensitivity of a joystick or device is to go into the joystick settings screen & click on the Control Sensitivity button. 3 Likes TboltP47 August 22, 2020, 8:20am #3 Yes you can adjust the curves but you can end up with too much travel near the latter part of the controls by going to far. Paste as plain text instead, I'm experimenting with that to increase my joystick sensitivity for FSX and lower it for XP11. By Each controls desired function is selected from the drop down box to the left of its bar. The problem with the existing control response setting, though, is that it applies to all joystick hardware you might plug in. All rights reserved. . Assign your profiles in the column on the right side of the window. I've played with the sliders and ended up with Control Response 0% for all axes and Stability Autmentation 100% for all axes. I think for other aircrafts it's your personal preference. The only recommendation i have is to move the yaw axis clear to the right on the left hand side. Sometimes when I start a flight for some reason the rudder pedals are super sensitive when trying to steer the aircraft on the ground. To do this, open the Buttons: Basic tab of the Joystick & Equipment window. As you said landing is alright but takeoff is a disaster. Everything worked fine with pairing the remote with X plane 11. This were the (default) settings I had for every aircraft: So now the manual of the ToLiSS A319 suggests these settings: Close the Joystick & Equipment window and the settings will be saved. To modify the joysticks sensitivity or the stability of the aircraft, open the Nullzone tab at the top of the Joystick & Equipment screen. You can just test fly that and see how it works out for you. With the control axes configured, you can tell X-Plane to treat your joysticks current position as the center of its travel by pressing the Use this position as center button. Using this button will allow you to correct for flight controls that dont return to the center of their rangefor instance, a joystick that moves left to right in a range of 0 to 100, but returns to 55 when you lets go of it. You can adjust control response and stability there. This is al personal preference but@Assert uses 0% on pitch and roll stability and 50% on yaw. so I've just bought the ToLiSS A319 and in the manual I saw a recommendation for the control sensitivity settings. The bar that moves should be set to, Move your throttle forward and back (on a yoke, this is typically the leftmost lever). In the settings for controls adjust the joystick sensitivity, you want the sensation to be lower, try something like 30% for yaw and pitch see what you like. The programming you can do in FreePie or Joystick Gremlin or something like that. The end result of this process (barring any hardware problems) will be a set of fully working flight controls in X-Plane. Each of the buttons and switches on the joystick can be assigned a function within X-Plane (for example, toggling the brakes or landing gear). If you have controls that don't move very far from stop to stop - use full non-linear settings for that axis. alessandro1922 As you operate your joysticks buttons and switches you will see the box in the upper left corner change the number it displays. Emergency landed and got stuck in an island. The reason you may want to use more than one is because if you have a 4 engine plane like the B17 or DC-6, you have 4 throttles, 4 condition levers, 4 cowl flaps, possibly 4 mixture levels, so you run out of axes pretty quick because directInput supports 8 max per device. The worlds most advanced flight simulator. and our This doesn't prevent you from mapping the original devices if they work for you. Also, each aircraft is different in it's response so make use of the ability to create different profiles for your aircraft. If these sliders are all the way to the left, then there is no stability augmentation of the aircraft. Keep in mind, these settings will make things feel realistic, while still running. So if that's . Does anyone know how Flightdeck2Sim, acdelta57 or Blackbox711 have configured their response curves and control sensitivity to reflect the real aircraft? To begin, move the joysticks controls around to see how the axes are mapped in X-Plane. The "Stability Augmentation" sliders should always be set to 0%. That lets you also change things like custom response curves, mapping two axes from different devices to a single output based on mode (which XP can't do), or mapping a single real input to multiple outputs, and of course, generating keyboard macros from buttons. My apologies for not making the following reference to you when I provided an answer to your question. You can adjust control response and stability there. This is what some RL GA pilots have suggested as starting points: Yoke: sensivity for pitch : -20 on both reactivity : 5% Pedals: sensivity for z-axis (ruder) : -30 on both reactivity: 5% Personaly I use 20-30% extremity as well. Control response settings come down to the hardware youre using, not just the sim plane. 0% on the left is very realistic during approach and landing. Scan this QR code to download the app now. Is their any way to fix the flight control sensitivites? All of this can be done quite rapidly, as X-Plane can monitor all the different inputs at once. reset the preset to the device's default. To set a null zone, first open the Nullzone tab of the Joystick & Equipment window. Use one of the following methods: To adjust the sensitivity for all axes at the same time, click Simple, and then drag the Sensitivities-all axes slider and the Null zones-all axes slider to the settings that you want. As the sliders are moved to the right, X-Plane will automatically add some stability augmentation to the aircraft, adding some elevator input to level the nose, some aileron input to minimize the roll rate, and some rudder input to counter any aircraft yaw rates. Working with the Air Traffic Control. . Keep in mind, however, that in this case, the remaining 90% of the control surface deflection must take place in the last 50% of joystick movement.
